The short version
Genstarters is a free directory of Claude prompts and articles. You can read, copy, and use anything on the site. We don't guarantee the prompts will work perfectly for your use case. Don't submit content that isn't yours, and don't use the site to harm others.
Using the site
You may use Genstarters for any lawful purpose, personal or commercial. Copying and using the prompts published here is exactly what they're for. No attribution required (though it's appreciated).
What's yours vs. what's ours
- Prompts submitted by contributors remain the property of their authors, licensed to you under CC BY 4.0 by default (unless the entry specifies otherwise).
- Site code (the Astro project) is MIT licensed and open source on GitHub.
- Articles on the blog are copyright the listed author.
- The "Genstarters" name and visual identity are ours; please don't use them to imply endorsement.
Submitting prompts
By submitting a prompt via GitHub PR, you confirm that:
- You wrote it, or you have the right to publish it.
- You're granting Genstarters and everyone who reads the site a license to use, adapt, and redistribute it under CC BY 4.0.
- It doesn't include private information about anyone else.
- It doesn't contain malicious instructions or content that violates OpenAI, Anthropic, or other model providers' usage policies.
No warranties
The site is provided "as-is." Prompts published here are shared in good faith but are not tested for every use case. You're responsible for reviewing anything you use with Claude, especially for high-stakes work (legal, medical, financial). Genstarters is not liable for outputs generated by prompts you find here.
Content we won't host
Prompts or articles that:
- Generate CSAM, deepfakes of real people without consent, or targeted harassment.
- Instruct on making weapons, malware, or fraud schemes.
- Impersonate a real person or brand in a misleading way.
- Violate the usage policies of Claude or another model provider.
We reserve the right to remove content that violates these rules or that we consider off-brand, at our discretion.
Changes to these terms
If we update these terms, we'll change the "last updated" date at the top and note significant changes on the site or in the changelog. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the site operator resides. Disputes are handled there.
